ACL in a nutsack, er I mean nutshell...

This trip to ACL 2005 has been brought to you by the words: HOT, DUSTY and RAD.

All three of those are represented in the photos I recently posted.  You'll notice a reoccuring theme in said photos. Good friends, drinking beer, listenin to music.  It really doesn't get much better than that.  This is a small sampling of the pictures taken, so if you want to see more shoot me an email for a private viewing.

    Much Needed.

when you try your best but you don't succeed
when you get what you want but not what you need
when you feel so tired but you can't sleep
    stuck in reverse

and the tears come streaming down your face
when you lose something you can't replace
when you love someone but it goes to waste
    could it be worse?

    lights will guide you home
    and ignite your bones
and i will try to fix you

Coldplay. The last ACL performance of 2005. Simply amazing. I wish all my friends could have experienced what I have over the last three days.  The intensity.. the comradery.. the  brilliant cacophony.. from everywhere.

    Coming home will be difficult.

guys aren't so mysterious. our interests can be rather neatly divided into two categories:
    1. females
    2. anything burning/exploding/destructing, or anything with potential to burn/explode/destruct.

Amen! But you left out tacos, bud.

    Speed Racer

A few days ago I posted a pic of my speedometer that I took while coming home from Idaho. Barely pushing 100mph. Its not much to write home to mom about. Hell, thats the average speed of a commuter on I-5 in LA.

Anyway, a friend of mine answered in turn.  The gauntlet has been thrown. I accept your challenge.

    Delirium Trigger

oh dear god I don't feel alive
when you're cut short of misery
will you pray it be the end?
give a look surprised wide eyes to me
then you'll know just what I am
the scar that triggers your fear
come know me in a different light now

    Open Road

Left for Idaho after work on Friday to visit family. It was a great solo road trip. I've always enjoyed driving through eastern WA.  The sights, the solitude, but mainly the smells. The smell of dirt, farm, agriculture. The scent of toil, calloused hands. Freedom.

    Good times.

Finally finished Wizards First Rule. This was my first fantasy (J.R.R. aside) so I ddin't really know what to expect. The first few chapters made me skeptical and were slow but towards the end it became a real page turner. Goodkind wrote the characters so well you feel you have an emotional bond with them. There are (I hear) 12 more books in the series but because my book queue is so long they'll have to wait. Next up: Dance of Death. Another Pendergast thriller by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.

Last but not least - http://www.ytcracker.com/nes/  Its nerd rap! This guy took 8-bit NES tracks and  laid down a beat with some killer lyrics.  Even if you don't like rap you've got to give it a listen. For you hardcore old school gamers you'll recognize samples from Double Dragon, Ledgend of Zelda and Mega Man.
