James Dungy, son of Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy, was found dead yesterday morning in Tampa Florida. There are no signs of foul play or accidental death, but suicide is suspected.

 

Suicide.

 

I didn't know James Dungy, I didn't know what he was going through, I didn't know what he was feeling... but if in fact it was suicide, why? You selfish son-of-a-bitch. Especially this time of year. You've not only permanently scarred their lives, but ruined every Christmas to come.

 

I don't condone suicide, assisted or otherwise. Nothing is worth taking your own life. Ever. I'd be lying if I said I had never considered it myself... but if you THINK about it for an hour, a minute, a second... you'll see that it'll accomplish nothing besides hurt those who love you. It's a ridiculous waste of emotion.

 

I'm sorry, James. I wish things could've been different. My thoughts and prayers go out to your friends and family.

Let me see if I can explain this without sounding too much like a Volkswagon commercial.

 

On the road of life you encounter forks. Different paths. Decisions. Right and wrong? Good or bad? Maybe its two good roads? Maybe they're both bad. Whatever. The point is you can't stop. You have to choose a path.

 

Before me are two paths. To the left... a correct decision, guaranteed. 99.9% right. I know its right. Its safe. To the right, the unknown. More decisions, maybe. The wrong decision? Hell, maybe it'll be the best decision I've ever made.

 

Is the right desicion right for me? Why do people knowingly turn away from the correct path?

Hey! It snowed last week! Schools were closed, people left work early, kids went sledding, pictures were taken. Yeah, snow. Its a good thing.
